Structural Concrete 2050:
Towards Carbon Neutrality, AI Design, and Robotic Construction
fib Congress 2026
The fib Congress 2026 will be held in Lisbon, Portugal, from 15 to 19 June 2026, aiming to highlight the ultimate goal of sustainability and the opportunities that emerging technologies will bring to concrete structures, under the motto “Structural Concrete 2050: Towards Carbon Neutrality, AI Design, and Robotic Construction”.
World-renowned keynote speakers will address key topics, including conceptual design, the robustness of prefabricated structures, seismic retrofitting of existing buildings, 3D-printing, and AI-driven applications. Delegates from around the world, holding diverse professional backgrounds, will present the latest scientific and technological innovations, as well as the most impressive projects in structural concrete, bridging research and practice.
Young engineers will have dedicated sessions organized by the fib-YMG, while students will participate in a competition designed to challenge both their skills and the knowledge of their supervisors. Additionally, leading companies in the concrete construction industry will showcase their products and services at the sponsors’ technical exhibition. Participants will also have the opportunity to join one of two technical visits: (a) to an existing cable-stayed bridge in Lisbon or (b) to an under-construction arch bridge in Porto.
June is a wonderful time to visit Portugal, with its pleasant weather making it an excellent opportunity to extend your stay through the weekend. Visitors can explore Lisbon’s most iconic landmarks or they can visit the charming nearby towns of Sintra and Cascais or Óbidos and Nazaré.
